  1. Urbanization is the process by which the 
  2. proportion of a population living in or 
  3. around towns and cities increases through 
  4. migration as the agricultural population 
  5. decreases. The growth of urban concentrations 
  6. in the USA and Europe is a relatively recent
  7. phenomenon, dating back only about 150 years 
  8. to the beginning of the Industrial Revolution 
  9. (although the world's first cities were built 
  10. more than 5,000 years ago).
